Nero's huge red porphry bowl in the middle of the room

The huge bowl is estimated to be from second century Egypt, given to Pope Julius III (1550-55) by Ascanio Colonna. Sala Rotonda: shaped like a miniature Pantheon, the room has impressive ancient mosaics on the floors, and ancient statues lining the perimeter.
